Located Downtown
State Hwy. 89
The Palmersville Historical
Society, Inc. was organized in 2004 by a small group of citizens who
desired a permanent location for preserving local heritage. Their
goals are to preserve, protect and present the history of Palmersville and
surrounding area communities for future generations. Our building,
located next to the Volunteer Fire Department in downtown Palmersville, now
houses the complete collection of Palmersville High School Senior pictures from
1924-1997, Palmersville 8th Grade Pictures from 1998-2003, and various
basketball trophies, pictures, and memorabilia. We also have a growing
collection of family genealogies, area community school pictures, Minida Normal College information and pictures, a
register of area Veterans, and other miscellaneous items.
Adjacent to our
building is the Webb School House, one of the last remaining original one-room
schools in the county. Relocated from its original site in the northeast
corner of the county, it is now open as a museum of early education.
Of course, they
are always glad to receive donations of any amount. All money received is
used for upkeep of the building (utilities and insurance) and supplies.
As we are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible
and we will give receipts upon request.
